Take a walk through time as you explore the stunning and dramatic peninsula of Durham city.

You will enjoy spectacular vantage points, discovering tales of miraculous St. Cuthbert and encountering legendary kings, eccentric Prince Bishops and humble locals along the way!

Private Half Day Tour – new for 2026

Get ready to fully immerse yourself in the amazing history and culture of Durham!

This half day private walking tour brings together the highlights of Durham city.

Durham Dark Tour

Fans of hauntings, grisly tales and saintly miracles will enjoy this delve into the darker side of Durham’s past!

On this evening walking tour, you will discover the gruesome, shocking and tragic tales of the city’s rich history, taking in medieval prisons, castle and cathedral as well as a historic pub or two.

Pub & History Tour

This wonderful walking tour combines two of the best things about Durham – its history and its pubs!

Over the course of 2.5 hours, you will be guided around the stunning architecture in the heart of the historic city centre, as your guide shares the tales of conquest, miracles and tragedy that makes Durham truly unique.

Along the way, you will stop at four atmospheric and historic pubs to enjoy some real cask ales.

Full City Tour

This new walking tour brings together all the best that Durham city has to offer in one day.

On this full day private walking tour, you will walk the cobbled streets, bridges and beautiful riverside paths whilst learning about 1,000 years of history, including magnificent Durham Cathedral (part of the UNESCO World Heritage site).  

You will stop for coffee and cake at one of the city’s atmospheric cafés and, later in the day, drink a beer (or a soft drink) in one of its many historic pubs.

You can also customise the tour by adding additional extras such as museums and alcohol tasting at some of the city’s best spots.
